Dinner, drinks and dancing – it was a strictly fabulous night

More than 100 family, friends and supporters of Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation helped raise $10,500 at the Strictly Ballroom fundraising dinner held recently at Waterbrook in Yowie Bay, Sydney.

As someone with a passion for life, Steven Walter would no doubt have been proud to see everyone enjoying the event. And it seemed fitting to raise our glasses in a toast to Steve on what was the fourteenth anniversary of his passing.

The event was generously sponsored by Newton Real Estate and our thanks go to David Newton and his team for their support, including our auctioneer, Chris Walsh. We also thank Waterbrook not only for hosting a fabulous event, but for donating a three piece painting which was auctioned off for $3,200.

Our lucky guests were entertained by a fabulous ballroom dancing display, enjoyed a delicious meal and heard from Donna Drew, who is a clinical nurse consultant in paediatric oncology at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick. Donna explained what happens when a child is diagnosed with cancer and how the funds raised by SWCCF are making a difference in their lives.

Another hot item on the night were the raffle tickets for the 2014 Honda raffle bike, the CBR1000RR SP Fireblade worth $25,000. Don’t forget to grab your tickets, or better still, order a book or two and sell them to your friends and workmates.

All in all, it was a fabulous night and we thank the generous supporters who are making it possible for SWCCF to work towards our mission of 100% survival for all children diagnosed with cancer. The $10,500 raised will make a great contribution to our fundraising commitments in 2014.
