$275,000 donation to Channel 9 Gold Telethon pushes four year total past $1 million

Generous supporters of Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation (SWCCF) have more than a million reasons to be proud. Today’s donation of $275,000 to the 2015 Gold Telethon brings the total committed by SWCCF over the past four years to a massive $1.1 million dollars.

“I’d like to thank our platinum sponsors Honda MPE Australia, Snowy Hydro Ltd and the Hyundai Help for Kids Foundation for their continued support which has helped us achieve this amazing milestone. I’d also like to thank the many hard working volunteers and generous donors who every day continue to help us make a difference for children with cancer,” said Sue Walter, Founder and Director of Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation.

“Each and every person who supports SWCCF can be proud to have contributed to this donation. Our motivation has, and always will be, to raise money to achieve 100% survival for all children with cancer and the prevention of their suffering. We’re proud that through the Gold Telethon we are able to help sick and injured children of NSW and beyond,” Sue said.

The $275,000 donated by SWCCF in 2015 was raised through SWCCF’s fundraising events, such as the Snowy Ride, the generosity of SWCCF’s sponsors as well as everyday Australians who dig deep and help make these donations possible.

The money raised through the Gold Telethon 2015 will help to purchase vital pieces of medical equipment and support research and critical frontline services across all areas of the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. The $275,000 donation from SWCCF will be specifically directed towards children’s cancer research.

“So much has already been achieved through research, but more work is needed to ensure that no child and their family has to go through a cancer diagnosis,” Sue said.

“Our challenge will not be complete until we have a cure and by funding research and supporting the work of some of Australia’s best and brightest medical researchers, every day we are getting one step closer to our goal of 100% survival for all children diagnosed with cancer,” she said.
