Carlton Kicking Goals for Kids with Cancer

There will be more than just six points at stake when Carlton is kicking goals on Saturday 20 June in their match against Port Adelaide at the MCG. For every goal the Blues score against the Power, Hyundai Help For Kids will donate $1000 to the Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation.

Every goal kicked by the Blues will mean $1000 towards research into a cure for childhood cancer

For the past five years, Carlton Football Club and Hyundai Motor Group Australia has supported Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation by making the Foundation a community partner for a match at the MCG.

Hyundai Help for Kids is an initiative of Hyundai and Hyundai Dealers to provide grants to not-for-profit organisations focused on delivering assistance to children.

Gavin Donaldson, the Southern Regional General Manager of Hyundai Motor Group Australia says with the backing of the Blues they’ll be “kicking goals for kids cancer” this weekend.
“By partnering with the Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation we’ve developed the Hyundai Help for Kids Cancer Research Project,” Donaldson said.
“The project will be jointly undertaken here at the Royal Melbourne Children’s Hospital and at the Sydney Children’s Hospital; both are at the forefront of paediatric oncology clinical research.

“Together we hope to achieve the goal of 100 per cent survival for all children with cancer and the prevention of their suffering.”

Some Blues players paid a visit and kicked a ball around with some of the kids at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne

In the lead-up to the match against Port Adelaide, Carlton players visited kids at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne on Tuesday 16 June to make a donation and show their support. It was great inspiration for the players to see the kids and know who they’re kicking goals for on the weekend.

“Hopefully as a team we can kick some, and individually I can kick some as well – it’s a thousand dollars going to a very good cause,” said Lachie Henderson.

Carlton is also auctioning some fantastic opportunities to get up close and personal with the players and be a trainer for the day, or take home a match day ball.
