Carlton Kicking Goals for Kids with Cancer

There will be more than just six points at stake when Carlton is kicking goals on Saturday 20 June in their match against Port Adelaide at the MCG. For every goal the Blues score against the Power, Hyundai Help For Kids will donate $1000 to the Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation.

Blues run on low res
Every goal kicked by the Blues will mean $1000 towards research into a cure for childhood cancer

For the past five years, Carlton Football Club and Hyundai Motor Group Australia has supported Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation by making the Foundation a community partner for a match at the MCG.

Hyundai Help for Kids is an initiative of Hyundai and Hyundai Dealers to provide grants to not-for-profit organisations focused on delivering assistance to children.

Gavin Donaldson, the Southern Regional General Manager of Hyundai Motor Group Australia says with the backing of the Blues they’ll be “kicking goals for kids cancer” this weekend.
“By partnering with the Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation we’ve developed the Hyundai Help for Kids Cancer Research Project,” Donaldson said.
“The project will be jointly undertaken here at the Royal Melbourne Children’s Hospital and at the Sydney Children’s Hospital; both are at the forefront of paediatric oncology clinical research.

“Together we hope to achieve the goal of 100 per cent survival for all children with cancer and the prevention of their suffering.”

Some Blues players paid a visit and kicked a ball around with some of the kids at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne

In the lead-up to the match against Port Adelaide, Carlton players visited kids at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne on Tuesday 16 June to make a donation and show their support. It was great inspiration for the players to see the kids and know who they’re kicking goals for on the weekend.

“Hopefully as a team we can kick some, and individually I can kick some as well – it’s a thousand dollars going to a very good cause,” said Lachie Henderson.

Carlton is also auctioning some fantastic opportunities to get up close and personal with the players and be a trainer for the day, or take home a match day ball.

$275,000 donation to Channel 9 Gold Telethon pushes four year total past $1 million

Generous supporters of Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation (SWCCF) have more than a million reasons to be proud. Today’s donation of $275,000 to the 2015 Gold Telethon brings the total committed by SWCCF over the past four years to a massive $1.1 million dollars.

“I’d like to thank our platinum sponsors Honda MPE Australia, Snowy Hydro Ltd and the Hyundai Help for Kids Foundation for their continued support which has helped us achieve this amazing milestone. I’d also like to thank the many hard working volunteers and generous donors who every day continue to help us make a difference for children with cancer,” said Sue Walter, Founder and Director of Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation.

“Each and every person who supports SWCCF can be proud to have contributed to this donation. Our motivation has, and always will be, to raise money to achieve 100% survival for all children with cancer and the prevention of their suffering. We’re proud that through the Gold Telethon we are able to help sick and injured children of NSW and beyond,” Sue said.

The $275,000 donated by SWCCF in 2015 was raised through SWCCF’s fundraising events, such as the Snowy Ride, the generosity of SWCCF’s sponsors as well as everyday Australians who dig deep and help make these donations possible.

The money raised through the Gold Telethon 2015 will help to purchase vital pieces of medical equipment and support research and critical frontline services across all areas of the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. The $275,000 donation from SWCCF will be specifically directed towards children’s cancer research.

“So much has already been achieved through research, but more work is needed to ensure that no child and their family has to go through a cancer diagnosis,” Sue said.

“Our challenge will not be complete until we have a cure and by funding research and supporting the work of some of Australia’s best and brightest medical researchers, every day we are getting one step closer to our goal of 100% survival for all children diagnosed with cancer,” she said.

Hyundai Help for Kids Cancer Research Project

Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation (SWCCF) is delighted to announce that Hyundai Help for Kids Foundation will be supporting a three year research project focussed on uncovering a cure for childhood cancer being jointly undertaken at two Australian hospitals at the forefront of paediatric oncology clinical research.

Hyundai Help for Kids (HH4K) has committed $450,000 over three years to support the Hyundai Help for Kids Cancer Research Program, a joint project which will be undertaken at the Kids Cancer Centre (KCC) at Sydney Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Cancer Centre (CCC) at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne.

The Hyundai Help for Kids Cancer Research Project takes the relationship between SWCCF and HH4K to a new level and creates a partnership in discovery. Seeking to fast-track a breakthrough in finding a cure for childhood cancers through the targeted program, three leading researchers will be appointed to focus on uncovering new treatments for children with cancer and leukaemia, both for newly diagnosed and relapsed patients. The research will also focus on developing Personalised Cancer Care for High Risk Cancers, whereby treatment response in patients will be intimately measured, monitored and managed.

Since 2000, Hyundai has worked with SWCCF on a number of initiatives helping to raise over $265,000 to date, as well as providing a vehicular grant for our fantastic iLoad. SWCCF is now the proud beneficiary of Hyundai Help for Kids, Hyundai Motor Company Australia and Hyundai Dealers’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative. Since inception in January 2014, HH4K has raised over $1,700,000 for causes assisting young Australians and their families.

Aussie built, Aussie tough Customline Camper up for grabs

Troy and Maz from Armadillo Customline Campers make sure that every camper trailer they create not only meets the high standards needed to survive in tough Australian conditions, but that each new owner can sense the passion and care that’s built into each and every one.

Adventurer Walk Up camper

It’s this attention to detail that makes the Customline ‘Adventure Walk Up’ camper trailer exactly what you want to take on your next camping adventure. Which is great news as Armadillo Customline and Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation are offering you the chance to win your very own amazing Adventure Walk Up Camper Trailer in their latest raffle. Tickets are just $5.00 each and the money raised will go towards vital research into a cure for childhood cancer, so there’s nothing to lose.

After supporting SWCCF in 2014 with an amazing raffle prize which went to a very deserving camper from Victoria, this year Armadillo Customline Campers have raised the bar with a brilliant set up valued at $22,000 and registration.

So what’ s in it for you? Well the Customline ‘Adventure Walk Up’ camper trailer includes a kitchen, full annexe and walls, 60 litre fridge, 12 volt battery pack, 130 watt solar panel and boat rack. This top shelf set up is valued at $22,000 and the raffle will be drawn at the Albury Caravan and Camping show, Albury showground Sunday 17 May 2015.

And the reason this raffle is so important is that for every 10 children diagnosed with cancer, three do not survive and in Australia, that translates to three children losing their lives to cancer every week.

Buying tickets in the raffle will not only give you a great chance at winning a fantastic camper trailer, but every $5.00 ticket purchased means $5.00 more can go towards helping Steven Walter Children’s Cancer Foundation achieve its goal, and that’s 100 per cent survival for all children diagnosed with cancer. There has been significant improvement in the life expectancy of children post diagnosis, however research and clinical trials are essential to ensure that all children are guaranteed a future.Armadillo Customline Adventure Walkup Camper Trailer

Tickets are just $5.00 each and available online or by calling 02 9542 5885. Customline ‘Adventure Walk Up’ camper trailers are ‘Aussie Made, Aussie Owned and Aussie Tough’.
