Meet the Challenge ‘Try’ Club takes on Childhood Cancer

Dec 15
The inaugural Meet the Challenge ‘Try’ team event on 13 December 2015 at Kurnell

One of our dedicated volunteers who has been supporting SWCCF for many years has come up with a brilliant way to Meet the Challenge of 100% survival for all children diagnosed with cancer.

With a group of friends and eager athletes of all ages, Rachel Spencer has formed the Meet the Challenge ‘Try’ Club.

Launched at Kurnell in Sydney’s south on 13 December at the first of the Kurnell Triathlon Series, members are being encouraged to join in to swim, ride and run to meet the challenge of 100% survival of all kids with cancer.

The inaugural event was a smashing success with two teams and two individuals competing for the Meet the Challenge team, achieving two third place finishes in the female and male team events.

At the second tri event held on Sunday 17 January 2016, also at Kurnell, the team achieved yet more fantastic results with a first place in the men’s team event (we won’t mention that they were the only team competing!), a second place in the mixed team and a personal best from individual competitor, Mark Skuse.

Four more races in the Triathlon Series are still to come so there’s still plenty of time to join in the fun.

Meet the Challenge 2016 memberships are now available and you can be part of the fun no matter whether you want to join in a try-athlon, or just want to show your support.

Membership Packages

Athletes = $50
Supporters = $30

Membership includes newsletters, training tips, athletes or supporters kit, race-day support and refreshments AND the satisfaction of knowing you are meeting the challenge of 100% survival of all kids with cancer. Join now – best of all membership is a tax deductible donation!

And follow the Crew on the Meet the Challenge Try Club Facebook page for updates on their adventures.
