Victory is Sweet for the Meet the Challenge ‘Try’ Club

The Meet the Challenge Try Team has been keeping itself busy over the last few weeks with plenty of healthy competition between try-athletes.

A couple of MTC team members attempted their first Standard (Olympic) distance Triathlon – 1.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run – at the triTheGong triathlon festival at Wollongong on 6 March. Congrats Rachel ‘Super’ Spence and Mark Skuse on a fantastic effort.

In March, Team Steve was representing in the Triathlon Australia Sprint Series event in Canberra. Team Steve brought home gold for the mixed team and won the first medal in age category with a 3rd place finish by Darren Skuse. Big thanks to Barry Clisdell for making the trek down to Canberra in the Hyundai Help for Kids fun bus to provide support on the day!

This was closely followed by a fantastic first place in the final of four triathlons in the Sprint Series at Kurnell on Sunday 20 March. Team Steve 85 finished first out of nine teams with some great individual performances in the swim, run and ride legs.

And of course the traditional post-race rehydration was all part of the fun at all three events – breakfast beer anyone?!

The Meet the Challenge Try Club offers memberships for both ‘try-athletes’ and supporters:

Athletes = $50
Supporters = $30

Membership is a tax deductible donation! Race day support and refreshments provided as is the satisfaction of knowing you are keeping Steven Walter’s dream alive “so that one day no other kid will have to go through what I’ve been through”.
